STREAM presented as a good-practice proposal at a CIGRE-CIRED workshop on EU funding

On 15 October 2026, CIGRE-CIRED Slovenia, through its Women in Energy (WIE) section, held the workshop “From Smart Grids to Future Investments: Green Transition and EU Funding 2028–2034” in Ljubljana. Speakers from the Energy Agency, ELES, Elektro Ljubljana, research institutions and industry discussed their experience with EU-funded projects and the funding outlook for the next programming period.

Tamara Smolej Polovič from the STREAM coordination team at the University of Ljubljana gave the talk “An inside view: proposal, management and communication in EU projects”.

STREAM served as the main example of a successful proposal. Submitted under Horizon Europe in 2021, it received the maximum score of 15/15, with 5 points for each of Excellence, Impact and Implementation. The talk also covered what happens after the grant agreement is signed, including the coordinator’s role, reporting and managing changes in the consortium, again drawing on STREAM.

Darja Skrt Georgiev from CyberGrid, a STREAM partner, spoke about their experience of implementing Horizon projects. Part of her talk was about STREAM, with a focus on the device registry and Cyber Grid’s work on the project.

As STREAM has now concluded, we are glad that its experience continues to be useful to others preparing and running EU projects.
