STREAM contributes to BRIDGE Action 4 report on sector coupling and system integration

The newly published BRIDGE Action 4 report “Supporting Potential Synergies from Increased Sector Coupling, Sector Integration and System Integration” consolidates findings from over 30 EU-funded projects working on the integration of electricity, heating, mobility, and gas systems.

The report highlights how sector integration is evolving: early technical challenges such as data interoperability and privacy are being progressively addressed, while more complex regulatory, institutional, and market-related barriers are becoming more prominent. These include fragmented network regulations, lack of harmonised market mechanisms, and inconsistent permitting procedures.

These contributions reflect STREAM’s ongoing work on addressing cross-sector flexibility and local energy optimisation, as part of its broader aim to support the transition to a decarbonised and integrated European energy system.
