8th STREAM General Meeting held in Madrid

The STREAM consortium gathered in Madrid on 26–27 May 2026 for its 8th General Meeting, hosted by OMIE. With the project in its final months, the two days brought together all partner organisations to review progress, assess impact, and align on the steps needed to close the project strongly.

The first day put the four pilot sites centre stage. Teams from Slovenia, Spain, Italy, and Finland presented the results of months of deployment and testing in real energy systems, flexibility activations, grid data, and lessons learned along the way. Highlights included two real flexibility activations at the Slovenian pilot site, a fully deployed grid model covering 15,000 consumers in Spain, water pump and EV charging flexibility results from Italy, and successful ancillary service tests in Finland meeting all performance targets.

The second day turned to impact. Partners worked through technical, environmental, economic, and social results from across the four sites, translating demonstration data into concrete evidence of what the STREAM tools can deliver. Dissemination and exploitation plans were also reviewed, with upcoming activities including the Energy Nexus Cluster Seminar in Brussels (8 June) and the project’s closing event at FLEXCON in Antwerp (23–24 September 2026).

Thank you to OMIE for hosting the consortium, for the excellent organisation throughout the two days, and for the visit to their operations room, a great opportunity to see first-hand how Spain’s electricity market operator works in practice.
